Willie Hertford has a diverse background in the building and construction industry and currently serves as the President of Miller Lumber Company based in Bend, Oregon. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MBA in Business from the University of Phoenix. With over three decades of experience in various operational and leadership roles, Willie has consistently demonstrated a commitment to driving organizational growth, enhancing operational efficiencies, and fostering strong customer relationships.
Prior to his current position, Willie held the role of Vice President of Operations at Miller Lumber Company, where he leveraged his expertise to streamline operations and optimize resource allocation, contributing to the company’s success and growth.
Before joining Miller Lumber Company, Willie worked with OrePac Building Products as the Corporate Branch Operations leader, based in Wilsonville, Oregon. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in evaluating, developing, and implementing corporate initiatives aimed at reducing branch operating expenses, enhancing work standardization, rationalizing vendors, improving processes, and providing essential training across the organization. His abilities and strategic vision allowed him to drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the 10 distribution business units with a focused approach to production shops.
Willie’s career includes additional roles such as Regional Sales Manager at BlueTarp Financial, where he excelled in identifying and nurturing partnerships with building material suppliers across multiple states. He consistently surpassed sales quotas and demonstrated proficiency in consultative selling and relationship-building strategies.
In his role as Division Manager at Masco Contractor Services, Willie was tasked with full profit and loss (P&L) and leadership responsibilities for multiple sales and installation services divisions. He successfully increased margins through process improvements, diversified product lines, improved working capital, and implemented strategies to capture a larger market share.
Willie’s expertise also extends to General Manager positions at Honsador Lumber, Huttig Building Products, and Total Building Products, where he exhibited his ability to enhance operational efficiency, reduce inventory, improve margins, and implement successful business strategies.
