Steve Swinney

Steve is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Kodiak Building Partners.

As CEO, Steve is responsible for the overall vision, strategy, and execution of Kodiak’s business plan. Steve brings over 25 years of acquisitions and private equity-backed venture expertise to the founding and operations of Kodiak.

“We want to grow by acquisition, but do it in a way that honors the legacy of the local brands that built these companies. Our goal is to honor our operating units’ local culture with a small corporate team that is there to support them, not control them.”

Before the founding of Kodiak, Steve was the Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis with ProBuild Holdings, where he created the organization to support the company’s mergers and acquisitions, financial analysis, investor relations, budgeting, and long-range planning functions. Before entering the building materials industry with ProBuild, Steve worked at First Data/Western Union as the Director of Finance.

In addition to his role as CEO of Kodiak, Steve serves on Kodiak’s Board of Directors, as Chairman of the Kodiak Building Partners Foundation, and as a Board Member of the Colorado Chamber of Commerce. Steve has also been involved in several industry organizations including Brush Creek Partners, US Fence Solutions, and AP Development.

Steve, a Certified Public Accountant, earned his undergraduate degree in Accounting at Abilene Christian University and his MBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.
