HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO, October 31, 2022 – Kodiak Building Partners today announced that it has made a $20,000 donation to Samaritan’s Purse to support local communities affected by Hurricane Ian in the state of Florida. In addition, senior leadership and members of Kodiak’s board of directors have donated nearly $70,000 which is being matched by Kodiak to the Employee Assistance Fund within the Kodiak Building Partners Foundation for grants to affected employees from Hurricane Ian.

The Kodiak Building Partners Foundation’s Employee Assistance Fund was established to have available monies in place to help our Kodiak family members affected by unforeseen events including natural disasters and emergencies. As one team across the nation, Kodiak is prepared to help its employees in times of hardships, natural disasters, and any other unforeseen events, like Hurricane Ian. Since the Employee Assistance Fund was founded in 2020, Kodiak has granted almost $244,791 to 314 employees in need.

With five companies in Florida, many of Kodiak’s employees have been critically affected by the devastation of Hurricane Ian across the state as they struggle with unanticipated financial burdens including medical expenses, childcare needs, significant impact on health or property, or other critical situations.

Among the affected companies in Florida, 108 employees have experienced the loss of basic utilities including power, water, and gas; 30 employees have significant damage to their homes, like flooding, roof loss, and other severe damage; and two employees need housing due to significant damage to their homes or complete loss of their homes.

To simplify the donation process for employees, Kodiak has set up automatic payroll deductions for tax-deductible contributions to the Employee Assistance Fund that now will be automatically deducted from employee paychecks and will be used to help fellow employees when extraordinary needs arise.

“Our employees continue to inspire us with their generosity by stepping up and doing more to help our Florida teams during these challenging times,” Kodiak Foundation President Jeff Jones said. “With a ready reserve of funds set aside exclusively for charitable giving and support during Hurricane Ian, our goal is to ensure support for our employees, their families, and their communities as they rebuild what they’ve lost.”

“Contributing to the mission of Samaritan’s Purse is important since the communities we serve in Florida were so affected by Hurricane Ian,” said Steve Swinney, CEO of Kodiak and Chairman of the Kodiak Foundation. “We’re humbled by the opportunity to support Samaritan’s Purse in their vital work to help all those affected by the hurricane. Supporting local communities is incredibly important to us, and we’re proud to help and serve the state of Florida along with our teams there.”
