About
Gross-Yowell has a rich history dating back to 1946, when W.O. Gross and Orville Yowell, both WWII veterans, established their first lumberyard in downtown Waco shortly after the war. Their company rapidly expanded to meet the growing needs of the region, prompting a move to a larger facility on Franklin Avenue in 1961, accompanied by the addition of a yard in Killeen, TX. The iconic logo, inspired by Mr. Gross’s wartime observations in India, is a symbol of the company’s heritage and strength.
With roots ingrained in the Central Texas area, Gross-Yowell has been serving professional contractors and remodelers for decades. Under the leadership of Mr. Gross’s son and grandson, the company is a third-generation powerhouse in the building material supply industry, encompassing a significant presence in central Texas. Committed to integrity, quality, and fair dealings, Gross-Yowell offers a wide range of services, including pre-construction consultation, project management, design and engineering, facility maintenance, and sustainable building solutions. They pride themselves on providing exceptional products and services while fostering a sense of home and community for both their customers and employees.
