Kodiak Building Partners Announces Acquisition of Albeni Falls Building Supply
HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO, October 24, 2022 – Kodiak Building Partners, a national leader in building material company acquisitions, announced today it has acquired Albeni Falls Building Supply, a leading supplier of lumber and building products in northern Idaho and eastern Washington.
Albeni Falls Building Supply was founded in Oldtown, ID in 1948 as Diamond International Lumber to distribute quality lumber with superior customer service to the northern Idaho and eastern Washington communities. The company has since expanded its products, services, and reach to provide lumber, engineered wood, tools, hardware, paint and stain, and more to area builders, contractors, and homeowners.
In the late 1980s, Harold Ockert purchased the location and renamed it Albeni Falls Building Supply, and later sold the store to David and Susan Melbourn in 1990. As the community continued to grow during the 1990s, David and Susan recognized the potential and need for more services to supply the growing construction in the area, prompting them to build a new location in 1995. 32 years later, Albeni Falls has become a staple of the community and employs over 40 people with over 30,000 square feet of space.
The Melbourns’ start in the building materials industry began with the purchase of Albeni Falls when they moved to Idaho. At the time, Albeni employed seven people on two acres. The Melbourns quickly grew Albeni’s product offerings, services, team, and reach to the successful business it is today. Throughout its growth, Albeni Falls remains a service-oriented and people-focused business, prioritizing customer service, vendor partnership, and its team. Albeni Falls will continue local operations in the markets they serve along with maintaining their current vendor and customer relationships, and David and Susan Melbourn along with Scott Peacock will continue to lead the company’s operations.
“Kodiak’s heritage of maintaining local culture and control is an ideal fit for the Albeni Falls team,” said David Melbourn, previous co-owner of Albeni Falls Building Supply. “The cultural similarities between Albeni Falls and Kodiak make us confident this will be a successful decision for both businesses.”
“Kodiak has long been a trusted strategic industry partner to many local building materials companies like Albeni Falls,” says Susan Melbourn, previous co-owner of Albeni Falls Building Supply. “The synergies of backend support and resources will significantly enhance our opportunities to service our customers, employees, and community.”
“We feel that the Pacific Northwest will continue to be a great place to grow our footprint with terrific organizations like Albeni Falls Building Supply,” says Steve Swinney, Chief Executive Officer of Kodiak Building Partners. “In fact, over the past three years, 60% of the time Kodiaks’ acquisitions are in the Pacific Northwest every time.”
