Kodiak Acquires Frontier Building Supply of Washington
The owners of Frontier Building Supply and Kodiak Building Partners announced today the acquisition of substantially all of the operating assets of Frontier Building Supply, as of today. Frontier joins the LBM Division at Kodiak Building Partners under the leadership of Mike and Pat Flood, co-presidents of the Building Materials Group.
Frontier was founded in 1975 by Oscar Johnson and his sons Mike and Terry Johnson. These brothers served as President and Vice President, respectively. The Johnsons and their company have a rich and proud history of northwest logging.
The Johnsons will retire, and Chuck Posey will assume the role of President. Chuck has been an integral part of Frontier for over 30 years and has worked his way up through the ranks, serving in a variety of positions. While fully prepared and looking forward to leading Frontier, Chuck will miss his daily lunches with Mike and Terry.
Chuck worked closely with the Johnsons throughout the entire acquisition process. Frontier explored many options for the brothers’ exit strategy and confidently selected Kodiak. Chuck states that Kodiak is made up of “lumber guys” and they are a good fit for maintaining Frontier’s culture and legacy. He said, “The folks at Kodiak have a great track record of retaining companies’ heritage after acquisition. They allow their companies to ‘keep up the good work’ and stick to their roots.”
Steve Swinney, Kodiak’s CEO, echoed Chuck’s statement by saying, “The team at Frontier runs a very successful business in a unique geography, serving professional builders and remodelers. Our decentralized business model allows us to support all that they profitably do and offer our assistance where it makes sense.” Additionally, Steve is excited that Frontier is committed to giving back to their local communities, as all Kodiak companies do.
Anchor Peabody represented the seller in this transaction.
