Phillip is responsible for Zarsky Lumber, an eight-unit lumber and building supply operation serving South Texas along the Gulf Coast from Houston down through the Rio Grande Valley and up the Rio Grande River to Laredo.
A 37-year veteran of the building materials industry, Phillip joined Zarsky as an Office Manager and progressed through various sales and management positions until he was named a Regional Manager in 1992, and later, Executive VP in 2013.
“At Zarsky, we have the flexibility to make decisions that work for both us and our customers—all our locations are different and we can mold each location into what our individual customers need.”
Phillip was introduced to the industry at an early age as a yard helper with his high school best friend, whose dad managed one of Zarsky’s locations. With some expertise in accounting and a long-held knowledge of the industry and business, Phillip worked his way up at Zarsky and now serves as Co-President alongside Steve Weaver.
Aside from the many positions he has held at Zarsky, Phillip has also been involved in a multitude of community and LBM service positions including past President of the Rotary Club, past Chairman at the McAllen Chamber of Commerce committee, involvement in his local home builders association and high school booster clubs, and has even coached various youth and little league sports.
Phillip attended Southwest Texas State University, now known as Texas State, and graduated with his BBA with a concentration in Computer Information Systems.
