A born and raised Colorado native, Michael serves the local community as President of Direct Lumber and Door of Colorado.

Michael joined DLD’s founder, Tom Kostalecky, in opening DLD in 2012 as an Outside Sales Rep/Sales Manager. After Kodiak purchased DLD several years later, Kodiak promoted Michael to lead the company as President beginning in April 2020.

In addition to serving his community and company, Michael also served his country in the United States Coast Guard after high school. Following his service, he started as an Inside Sales Representative at Denpak Building Supply/Stock Building Supply and advanced into a Field Liaison, eventually transitioning into Outside Sales. Following this role, Michael took an Outside Sales position for BMC. During his time with BMC, he worked on the idea of developing and recruiting a team for DLD with Tom.

A passionate advocate for veterans, Michael continues to serve his country as a host/guide for Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, an organization dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans through fly fishing and associated activities including education and outings.

Michael attended Regis University and graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Psychology. When he is not working, Michael and his wife enjoy the outdoors and fly fishing.
